Amanda A. Kessler’s practice focuses in asbestos litigation, toxic torts, products liability, and complex litigation.
Ms. Kessler joined the firm after leaving her position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ms. Kessler practiced in the Civil Division, where she represented the United States in a variety of civil actions brought in federal court. She litigated cases on behalf of the United States involving medical malpractice claims, as well as other tort actions brought pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act.
Prior to serving as an Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Kessler was an associate with a nationally recognized law firm in Cleveland, Ohio, where she focused her practice in the areas of business litigation and product liability actions. Ms. Kessler represented clients, including financial institutions, major real-estate developers, and private equity groups in complex commercial and corporate disputes. She also was involved in claims related to manufacturing and distribution of consumer products, and worked extensively on pharmaceutical litigation. While practicing in Cleveland, Ms. Kessler also handled several pro bono matters before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Kessler began her legal career in 2003, serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Catherine D. Perry, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Ms. Kessler is a 2003 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. During law school she served as Executive Editor of the Saint Louis University Law Journal, faculty fellow, and teaching assistant for a Legal Research and Writing course. She received an academic excellence award for Legal Research and Writing. Ms. Kessler earned her B.A., cum laude, in Biology and English from Saint Louis University in 2000.
