Michael Dunlavy obtained his J.D. from the St. Thomas University of School of Law. He has been admitted to practice law in the state of Florida. Prior to becoming part of the team at The Ferraro Law Firm, he played a key role in an important piece of legal work that affected at-risk families and young children. Mr. Dunlavy obtained national recognition for his endeavors in the area of social welfare reform. His background as a child growing up in the foster care system led to his passion for advocating legislative reform of the Florida child welfare system in the state capitol. Casey Family Foundations awarded him the Ruth Mesingla Award in 2009.

Mr. Dunlavy also gained valuable legal experience during his time as a legal intern with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. After obtaining his law degree, he worked in several roles at the United States Department of Health & Human Services in Washington, D.C.; Children's Legal Services in Miami, Florida; and for the Mayor of Miami-Dade County. 100% of his practice is devoted to litigation.
