Melissa Damian Visconti
Melissa Damian Visconti joined the firm after leaving her position of 11 years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Visconti prosecuted some of the office’s more high profile national security and violent crime cases. Ms. Visconti also worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s civil and appellate sections, where she successfully defended the United States in federal tort and medical malpractice cases, as well as in criminal appellate cases. Ms. Visconti has tried more than 30 criminal and civil jury trials as an Assistant United States Attorney. She was named Federal Prosecutor of the Year by the Miami Dade County Chiefs of Police in 2006 and was awarded the Attorney General’s Award in 2010 for Excellence in Furthering the Interests of National Security.
Prior to working as an Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Visconti worked in private practice in Miami with a focus on complex commercial and securities litigation. Ms. Visconti also served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Ursula Ungaro, United States District Judge in the Southern District of Florida.
Ms. Visconti is a 1995 graduate of the University of Miami Law School and a 1990 graduate of Princeton University. She has been admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Currently, she concentrates her practice in the areas of civil litigation and civil appellate practice.
