Florida Trial Lawyer

Angelica L. Novick is an experienced and broad-based litigator who represents individuals and entities in both state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration.

Immediately prior to joining the firm Ms. Novick was Senior Counsel at one of the largest multi-national law firms in the country (Am Law 50). In that capacity, Ms. Novick represented clients throughout the United States in high-stakes and complex commercial litigation disputes and arbitrations, as well as in government enforcement actions and investigations. Ms. Novick is a versatile attorney and has the demonstrated ability to master diverse subject matters. Ms. Novick has experience litigating matters involving non-competes and trade secrets, breaches of contract, fraud, interference with contracts and business relationships, intellectual property disputes, breaches of fiduciary duty, the False Claims Act, franchisor-franchisee disputes, employment litigation (including whistleblower retaliation claims under state and federal law), and corporate governance and related disputes. Ms. Novick also has significant trial experience in both state and federal courts.

Ms. Novick received her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, Ms. Novick worked as a judicial intern to the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. In that capacity, Ms. Novick obtained invaluable insight into the inner workings of a federal district court through her work researching and briefing contested legal issues, presenting written and oral analyses and recommendations, and drafting proposed opinions for publication. Ms. Novick was also a research assistant to Vice Dean Patrick O. Gudridge, and served as the executive editor of The Inter-American Law Review. Ms. Novick received her undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Miami.

Ms. Novick is admitted to practice in Florida.

  • Prevailed at trial in federal district court on behalf of plaintiff technology company on claims including copyright infringement and breach of contract.
  • Obtained a defense verdict after jury trial for a passenger cruise line against former employee who asserted whistleblower retaliation claim.
  • Obtained federal court dismissal for hospital system of claims including whistleblower retaliation under the False Claims Act and for tortious interference with contract and business relationship.
  • Obtained federal court dismissal of putative class action brought against hospitality company based on claims under consumer protection statutes and pursuant to the federal Military Lending Act.
  • Obtained federal court dismissal for insurance company of trademark infringement claims.
  • Won federal court summary final judgment in favor of a franchisor on franchisees’ declaratory judgment claims arising out of franchise agreements.
  • Successful defense of hospital system in False Claims Act qui tam lawsuits.
  • Represented multiple hospital systems and other healthcare providers and executives in federal government investigations under the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Stark Law, including conducting corresponding internal investigations.
