Dick Maykel Ortega is a Partner at The Ferraro Law Firm focused on helping clients solve complex legal problems. Mr. Ortega has a broad range of experience litigating and advising clients in complex commercial, Qui Tam, product liability, catastrophic injuries, and toxic tort actions in state and federal courts and in arbitration. Prior to joining The Ferraro Law Firm, Mr. Ortega worked in the Washington, D.C. office of a large international law firm counseling international and domestic entities in complex merger and acquisition transactions, finance transactions, market entry strategies, product liability litigation, antitrust litigation, and FCPA matters.
During law school, Mr. Ortega interned with the Securities and Exchange Commission assisting counsel with the investigation and litigation of industry and issuer practices. He also interned with the FIU Office of the General Counsel developing litigation strategies, and the FIU Investor Advocacy Clinic assisting clients in FINRA Arbitration disputes to recover damages due to broker wrongdoing.
Mr. Ortega earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law and graduated as the Salutatorian of his class. Mr. Ortega is honored to have received various awards and scholarships during law school and successfully represented FIU Law in national and international competitions. He is especially proud of having received the C.A.M.P. 4 Justice Human Rights Scholarship funded by the families of the Brothers to the Rescue (Hermanos al Rescate), who twenty years before helped rescue his family in the Florida Strait when they fled Cuba.
